Title:
////’the sewer rat of king’s landing’
Under the Surface
Personality
:: stubborn and clever; she knows she can get away with things if she pays the right man to turn the other way while she does something too close to breaking any laws. ashton never gives up her claim; if she touches it, it’s hers are her life rules. she doesn’t mind being homeless, a sewer rat, a beggar, or even a girl (although being a man would be far easier, clothes aren’t easy to come by) because it gives her a perspective of every city she’s been to that no one else can see. the king might think it absolutely atrocious how king’s landing stinks in the summer, how much qarth reeks from spices and rotting ships, but it is in those things that she delights. every day is a new thing for her.
if ashton manages to get her hands on a few pickpocketed coins, she’s a terrible drunken oaf, and her loud, abrasive mouth gets even worse when she’s piss drunk. she never bothers holding her tongue; if some lord finds colourful language offensive, what loss would it be to her should she lose her head?
History
:: ashton was born in bravos to two ghiscari parents; sinnie and jhorin. although her mother and father had both hailed from astapor, her father’s spice trade route led them to bravos where she was born, almost conveniently. her mother remained there as a permanent home, while jhorin kept his business of sailing all across the known world.
while ashton’s relationship with her parents had never been stable, nor had it been fragile, she never treated them as a girl would treat her own family. she often ran away to practice water dancing with a very tall, slender woman that hid around fruit stalls in the city. on the eve of her turning ten and one, ashton bought a sword for herself, and stole her father’s boat. she sailed with only a week’s supply of coin and bread to the seven kingdoms, where she washed up in king’s landing, and took to beating brash men and knights in bar fights for her daily wage.
when travelling, ashton claims she’s of house brax. anyone stupid enough to be fooled by her gets to see another day, but if they begin to suspect she’s not all she seems to be, she quickly silences them.
if ashton isn't too preoccupied amusing herself, she can be found stealing spices and trading them, a little less noble than what her father did, but it was still work.
seven and ten now, she coped with her life of being dirty and poor for six (surprisingly) short years.
but summer is a dreadful thing.
